A Warm Welcome

Hi we are Lynn and Steve Flook and we welcome you to Alannah House bed and breakfast in the centre of the historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.  2021 is our 17th year of running Alannah House bed and breakfast and as with previous years we aim to give our guests the best of stays in Berwick, England’s northernmost town.  In 2015 we were awarded Visit England’s ROSE award for excellent service to our guests, one of only 100 to receive this in all of England.

As your hosts at Alannah House 4 star silver award bed and breakfast, we look forward to meeting new guests as well as getting re-acquainted with regular visitors this year.

We are a Welcome Port on the famous Northumberland Coastal Path Walk so after an enjoyable day’s walking along the spectacular Northumberland Coast you’ll be assured of a good night’s sleep and hearty breakfast in the morning. We can even stamp your Northumberland Coastal Path passport with our unique stamp to remind you of your stay and as memento of your time spent here.

A Georgian house originally built as officers’ married quarters for the nearby barracks (the first purpose built barracks in England), Alannah House bed and breakfast is close to all local amenities and makes an ideal base for exploring North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Accommodation is of a high standard, receiving an VisitEngland rating of 4 stars (silver award) and 2015 ROSE accolade as well as the Food Standard Agency’s highest rating for food hygiene of 5 (very good). All rooms are en-suite with Digital TV, tea/coffee making facilities, and irons/ironing boards.  Free wi-fi is available throughout the house.

Guests within Alannah House are welcome to make the most of the large and private walled garden, which comes complete with a summer house and patio, perfect for enjoying some peace and quiet during the good weather. Secure cycle storage is also available on site. After a comfortable night’s sleep in a quality bed a full English breakfast or a lighter option of smoked salmon, kippers, vegetarian or continental breakfast is included for all guests and represents the ideal way to start each day’s activities in Berwick-upon-Tweed,  Northumberland.

There is no shortage of things to do in Berwick and the surrounds, from the attractions of the town itself which displays all the visible remnants of a rich and often turbulent history between England and Scotland, to the great many outdoor activities associated with the open countryside, including the Cheviot Hills and the spectacular Northumberland coastline.

Opportunities for walking, golf, cycling and fishing are all to be found nearby as is a full range of water sports and other coast and sea related activities. Enjoy the best of the area from a base which offers the best in accommodation, Alannah House.

And for the really energetic (or foolhardy!) and we’ve had a few, if you fancy an early morning jog or more serious training run have a word with your host Steve, who is a keen runner competing in marathons as well as triathlons.  He’d be happy to advise on routes or even join you in that run at your pace.

At Alannah House you are ensured of a warm, friendly welcome and a great bed and breakfast.
